Viera Wetlands- 01-03-2010

Despite an unsuccessful photography trip I had an enjoyable morning in the 34 degree weather.

Here’s what I saw

  • Masked Duck (male, has been around for about a week now)

  • Blue Winged Teal
  • Mottled Duck
  • Ringneck Duck
  • Hooded Merganser
  • PiedBilled Grebes
  • American Coots
  • Common Moorhen
  • Black Bellied Whistling Ducks
  • Anhinga
  • Cormorant
  • Savannah Sparrow
  • Limpkin
  • Sandhill Crane (3 in the wetlands, many surrounding)
  • Bald Eagles (2 adults)
  • Caracara (2 Adults)
  • Black Vultures
  • Loggerhead Shrike
  • Palm Warbler
  • White Ibis
  • Glossy Ibis
  • Great Blue Heron
  • Woodstork
  • TriColored Heron
  • Great Egret
  • Snowy egret
  • Cattle Egret
  • Little Blue Heron
  • Green Heron
  • White Pelican (1 in click ponds)
  • Brown Pelican (1 in click ponds)
  • Ringbilled Gull
  • Northern Harrier
  • Sharp Shinned Hawk (on fence on 3 mile road)
  • Kestrels (many on 3 mile)
  • Red Tailed Hawk (1 on 3 mile)
  • Red Shouldered Hawk (on 3 mile)
  • Eastern Pheobe
  • Catbirds
  • American Crows (Mocassin Island)
  • Boat Tailed Grackle
  • Red Winged BlackBird
  • Fish Crows
  • Common ground Dove
  • Mourning Dove
  • Marsh Wren
